Jack Thomas Horton

Jack Thomas Horton, 88, of Rock Island, passed away, Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park.  Memorials may be made to Q.C. Animal Welfare Center or American Diabetes Association.

Jack was born in Chicago on May 15, 1934, and raised by his grandparents, Albert and Anna Horton. He graduated from Moline High School in 1952. Jack married Jackie Morrison in 1952, in Moline. He later married Myrna M. Hayne on September 30, 1968, in Rock Island. She preceded him in death in 2008. He worked at Sturtevant Dairy in Rock Island for 21 years, after working in the transportation industry, retiring in 1999. He enjoyed spending time in the Ely Boundary waters canoe area.

Survivors include his children, Toni (Mike) Hellberg, Arizona City, AZ, Mike Horton, Rock Island, Sue (Bill) Fowler, Rock Island; grandchildren, David Hellberg, Maricopa, AZ, and Jamie Spriet, Moline.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gail Lawson.
