Alva "Ernie" Ernest Fogle, Jr., 90, of Moline, IL, entered heaven late Saturday evening, September 27, 2014. He passed away at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline, IL.
Please join family and friends for a celebration of Ernie's life and memories on Thursday, October 2, 2014, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Private family services will be held and burial will be at National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation or American Heart Association.
Ernie was born in Keokuk, Iowa, on May 11, 1924, but spent much of his youth and early adult years in Moline, Illinois. He graduated from Moline High School and began working as a draftsman at Williams, White & Co. In 1942, he volunteered to serve in the U.S. Navy. Upon returning home from service to our country, Ernie met, courted and then married his beautiful wife, Clarabelle Banfield, on October 2, 1948. Ernie and Claire were partners in marriage for just days short of sixty-six years.
For Ernie, being honest, hard-working, and lovingly caring for and participating in the activities of his family, was always of the utmost importance and joy to him. Though his work carried him, his wife, and children from Moline to the Chicago area, to New Jersey, and then to Texas, Ernie and Claire planned retirement in their home town, Moline. And so much like Ernie's lifelong attention to quality and detail, the plan became a reality.
In addition to Claire, Ernie is survived by his children, Sandra Hamilton of Austin, TX, Debra Hurt of Moline, IL, Timothy (Jennifer) Fogle of Arlington, TX, and Kimberly Pyles of Moline, IL, as well as grandchildren, Amanda, J.D., Brad, Ashley, Tom, Brooke, Ethan, Kelsey, Elise, and Kallista, and great-grandchildren, Peyton, Riley, Nicolette, Caden, Kyleigh and Charlie.
Ernie now joins his father, Alva Ernest Fogle, Sr., mother, Edna Gardner Fogle, and brothers, Donald (Mick) and William (Bill) Fogle, in everlasting life.
