A.J. "John" Andrews

A.J. “John” Andrews, 85, of Moline, passed away December 21, 2024, at his home.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday December 28, 2024, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 2930 31st Avenue, Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Entombment will be at the Greenview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church or to King’s Harvest Pet Rescue, Davenport.

John was born on December 10, 1939, in East Moline, the son of Andrew and Mabel (Cederstrom) Andrews, Sr. He married Patrica L Hinrichs-Drechsler on August 17, 1974, in Rock Island. John would go on to work in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, retiring in 2002 as the Value Engineering Officer after 41 years of service. He was a member of S.A.V.E. – the Society of American Value Engineers. 

John was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, the Viking Club, and a perpetual member of Doric Lodge No. 319, Moline, Illinois. He loved his model trains, traveling, as well as caring for him and Pat’s beloved dogs and cats. 

Survivors include his wife, Patricia “Pat” Andrews; son, Nathan (Wendy) Drechsler; daughters, Stacey (Jeremy) Craven and Melissa (David Tumbarello) Andrews; grandchildren, Erin, Cortney, Alex, Ashleigh, Audrina, Sophia, Nick, Paul; 7 great grandchildren; and his sister, Delores Walters.
