Alan W. Johnson, 91, of East Moline, died Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center of Moline, Moline, IL.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2015, at Greenview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, East Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family.

Alan was born on January 12, 1924, in Moline, IL, the son of Albin W. and Laura E. Ohline Johnson. He married Natalie J. Welander on September 9, 1961, in Moline. She preceded him in death on November 23, 1998.

Alan graduated from Moline High School in 1942. During World War II he served for 3 years in the Army Air Force mostly in the Southwest Pacific area. After discharge he attended the former Moline Institute of Commerce and graduated from Walton School of Commerce in Chicago in 1950. He was employed by United States Steel Supply Division in Moline and Chicago for ten years and later worked at the former Franks Foundry Corporation in Moline and Davenport in a variety of accounting and administrative positions. He retired in 1982.

Alan was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church; was a former member of the Church Council and served as Church Treasurer for 18 years.

Survivors include his brother-in-law, John L. (Joan) Welander, Moline; niece, Jill (Robert) Welander-Mahlburg, Sarasota, FL; nephews, Mark (Budell) Welander, Missoula, MT, and Thomas T. (Suzanne) Welander, Atlanta, GA; numerous cousins; many great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Natalie J., and sister, Betty L. (Forest) Johnson Reid.
