Alice M. Olson, 95, formerly of Sherrard, died Friday, April 5, 2013, at St. Anthony's Nursing & Rehab, Rock Island, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Kirk Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home. Ltd. 1301-4th Street, Orion. Visitation is from 1:30-2:30 prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Sherrard Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Activity Department or to the Sherrard Presbyterian Church.
Alice was born on February 13, 1918, in Rock Island, IL, the daughter of Louis and Eva (Luckenbihl) Dierolf. She married Roy Olson on September 22, 1946, in Coal Valley, IL. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1988.
Alice grew up working on the family truck farm, Dierolf Gardens, in west Rock Island. She later worked at the former Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric Company and retired as a cook at Sherrard High School. Alice was a 62 year member of Sherrard Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed making and selling chocolates, a skill she taught to her daughters. Alice loved playing cards and belonged to the senior citizens card club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Louis, Raymond, Earl and Leonard Dierolf and sisters, Elsie Dierolf and Elizabeth Dierolf in infancy.
The family greatly appreciated the caregivers for Alice while she was living in her home in Sherrard. She was especially happy when her grandson Adam and his friend Thalila Umwech gave a year to care for her. We also want to thank the great staff at St. Anthony's from top to bottom, for their care, comfort and support. Alice often said, "I like it here."
