Alma A. Sigler, 96, of Moline, IL, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline, IL. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at Western Township Cemetery, Orion, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

Alma was born on July 9, 1929, in Colona Township, IL to Albert G. and Alice E. (Grabow) Schroeder. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Rock Island, IL, graduated from Orion High School in 1947 with a scholastic rank of eighth in her class, and attended college. Following her work in sales and as a bridal consultant in Bloomington, IL, Alma became a buyer and store manager for Folwells Bridal and Gifts in the Quad-Cities with a specialty in dinnerware, crystal, and flatware. She also worked for Von Maur Department store, McCabe’s, and Hallmark where she was dedicated to customer service and creating new friendships.

Alma’s faith was a guiding presence in her life and having grown up with many aunts, uncles, and cousins, she cherished spending time with family. As a devoted member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, she was involved with church missions and volunteering. Alma was skilled in sewing, knitting, cross stitching, card games, and had a lifelong love of puzzles (usually 500 to 1,000 pieces). While enjoying several different card clubs and social circles, she was known for her sharp mind and even sharper wit. She passed down her joy of playing cards to multiple generations of family members and often reminded great-grandchildren and great-grand nieces and nephews that “we don’t lie, we don’t cheat, and we don’t pout when we get beat”. Alma’s warmth, kindness, and keen intellect left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Survivors include: her granddaughter Jordan (Nick) Kriner; great-grandchildren, Micheala and Wyatt Kriner; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Alice; daughter, Joni Sue (Sigler) Baxter; brothers, Martin E. and Herman A. Schroeder; and sister, Elizabeth A. Bjork.
