Angela J. Conner

December 17, 1953 — March 18, 2014

Angela Jean Conner (Soulis), 60, a resident of Moline, IL, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014, in her home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Angela's grandchildren's educational fund.

Angela was born on December 17, 1953, in Moline, IL, to Steve and Catherine (Ningen) Soulis, although she soon sought out the nurturing care of her step-father Richard Hays in the late 1950's.

In her early years, Angie enjoyed music, hanging out with friends, outdoor sports, and earning high marks in school, all while growing up on Campbell's Island. She graduated from United Township High School (North Campus) in 1972.

They say the third time is the charm, and her current husband, John, joined her hand in marriage in 1993, and although he could never work enough or do anything right, he kept the lights on.

Angela frequented Bee's Video, Franks Pizza, and Jewel Osco all in Silvis, IL, although she wasn't sure where they were located. She enjoyed the outdoors, but only when viewed from inside the comfort of her climate controlled home. Winning, not losing, at games like Trivial Pursuit was her thing, along with arguing about most things, for which she was always right. She was terrified of June bugs, spiders, lacking a tan, ice cubes, John's feet, and being alone.

Later in life she enjoyed cats, fine television programming, M*A*S*H*, incense, Stephen Colbert, Ryan Stiles, Bill Maher, Kevin Costner, and many other things that she tired of within minutes. Above all, she had a passion for humor, some of which filtered down to her children (Randy being the funniest).

On a serious note, Angie was a loving, nurturing, caring and dedicated mother who completely devoted her life to her children whom she loved more than anything in this world. She was also a fantastic cook, specializing in the best tacos on Earth.

Angela is survived by her husband, John Conner; four children, Mandy Soulis (Craig Wells), Randy Yates (Nicole Johnson) both of Davenport, IA, Nikki Rose (Thomas Wadsworth) of Los Angeles, CA, Julian Conner of Silvis, IL; three grandchildren, Adia Soulis, Emersyn Wells, Thomas Jason "TJ" Yates; four siblings, Linda Fausett, Cathy "Cooky" Cain, Tammy (Ed) Wilson, Bob (Earlene) Hays; and very special life-long friend, Rick "Beeper" Yates.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine Hays; step-father, Richard Hays; father, Steve Soulis; her cats, Stanley, Freddie, Marching Betty, Toby; her praying mantis, Manny; and her dog, Alphonse.

In all seriousness, Mom, we love you more than you could ever know. We will miss you beyond the words on this page or anything we could have ever conveyed to you in life. You will be deeply missed.

Online condolences may be left for her family by visiting esterdahl.com.
