Arlene L. Atkins

Arlene Atkins, 83, of Moline, passed away Tuesday June 13, 2023, at her home after an extended illness with her family at her side.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday June 17, 2023 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.  The burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.  Memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. The family asks that those who attend wear black and gold.

Arlene was born on June 2, 1940, in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Edward and Lucille Metz. She married Donald P. Atkins on July 9, 1977, at Temple Baptist, Moline. She was previously employed as a secretary at American Air Filter, retiring in 1995 after 38 years. She was a member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles. Arlene was an avid Hawkeyes fan and she enjoyed cross stitching. Arlene was a proud Moline High School graduate class of 1958 and loved working on the reunion committee with her classmates.

Survivors include her husband, Don; daughters, Rhondi (Liz) Mahoney, Kory (Fred) Power; stepsons, Don (Oscar) Atkins, Rodney Atkins; sister, Lavelle (Paul) Stewart; a niece dear to her heart, Pam Jackson; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step-grandson, Max Atkins.
