Barbara K. Exbom Thompson, 80, of Moline, IL, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving children and family on Sunday, September 14, 2014, at home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2014, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park.
Barbara was born on October 24, 1933, in Macomb, IL, the daughter of William Bochlett and Emma Lenore Welch Wilhelm. She married Richard Charles Exbom on November 19, 1949, in Moline. She later married Tommy T. Thompson in 1981, in Moline.
Barbara held several positions over time in her working career. She was a bartender for Les & Molly's and had worked in the Meat Dept. of the Rock Island Arsenal Commissary. Prior to that, Barbara worked for Miller's Florist in Moline and for several years as a physical therapy technician for Illini Hospital.
Barbara was a member of First Christian Church in Moline and a life member of the Moline VFW Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed singing classic country and blue grass music. Barbara also enjoyed crafts, painting, cooking, reading, and her beloved cat, Trinket. She especially loved family gatherings and visiting on her front porch with family and neighbors.
