Benjamin Landrum, age 35, the best son, a kind and loyal friend, the greatest dad, and self-proclaimed ladies' man of Moline, passed away June 29, 2013, at his home.
Graveside Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013, at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to his family.
Ben was born in Moline, IL, to Nancy and William (Mike) Landrum on January 10, 1978. From the time he was a little tyke with that charismatic smile and witty personality, Ben was a magnate for friends, the ladies and mischief. Ben was the best friend anyone could ask for, loyal to the bone. No matter what, no matter where, if you needed something, Ben was always there; no questions asked.
Through the years Ben left us with many priceless memories and we watched him grow into a great young man. He was so proud when he became a Firefighter for the city of East Moline, serving over 9 years. This also didn't hurt with upping the ante as a ladies' man either since chicks dig guys in uniform; a lesson that didn't take Ben very long time to learn and utilize. Even after leaving his job due to a work related injury, he remained the epitome of a firefighter through and through and carried this on through his everyday life.
Ben put the mischievous days of his youth behind him when he became a dad. Ben was so proud of his son, Sebastian, and all of Sebastian's accomplishments no matter how large or how small. They loved playing games together and going to the BMX track; traveling to races all over the countryside. Yes, Sebastian was Ben's world and Ben's lasting mark on life. Ben will always be with us through his son.
Make no mistake about it, Ben's story isn't over yet. He is starting another chapter where he is reuniting with his mother, Nancy, who we lost just a short year ago and his brother, Michael (Mickey) Landrum.
Ben is survived by his father, William (Mike) Landrum of Moline; and son, Sebastian Landrum (Allison Anderson) of Moline.
