Bettie Simmons, 73, of Rock Island, IL, died Sunday, May 8, 2016, at St. Anthony’s Continuing Care, Rock Island, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Chippiannock Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
Bettie was born on November 9, 1942, in Memphis, TN, the daughter of Eddie and Ethel Briggs Moss.
Bettie enjoyed playing bingo, taking long walks and picking up pennies, which she proudly had several of. She also believed herself to be quite the comedian.
Survivors include her sons; Edward, Michael, Christopher and Cornico; daughters, Sherry Simmons and Angela Taylor; 27 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and her siblings; Carl Moss, Huey Moss Sr., Carolyn Pulliam and Violet Kidd; 14 stepbrothers and sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son Keith Simmons, brothers; Sgt. Eddie Moss, Robert L. Moss, Edward L. Moss and Sgt. Willie Moss.
