Betty J. Harris

Elizabeth “Betty” Jean Harris, 89, of Moline, passed away Monday May 15, 2023, at her home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to Noon, Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Graveside Services will follow at 1 p.m. at the Rock Island National Cemetery and those wishing to attend should be at the funeral home by 12:15 for procession to the cemetery. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

Betty was born on February 21, 1934, in Moline, the daughter of Leo R. and Katheryn (Boney) Brown. She married Charles D. Harris on December 5, 1953, in East Moline. He preceded her in death on February 26, 2013. She began her work at Royal Neighbors Insurance for many years then moved on to the Millard Group in the early eighties retiring in 2018, working over 40 years. Betty belonged to King’s Daughters for many years and volunteered her time at McKinley School and Moline High School.

Survivors include her children, Robert C. Harris, Moline, IL, Todd D. (Julie) Harris, Montgomery, AL, Linda J. (Jerry) Hoggard, Taylor Ridge, IL; grandchildren, Jerry (Abby) Hoggard II, Kaela (Jon) Binsfeld, Alexa (Michael) Berkland, Kalli Harris; great granddaughters, Addison Hoggard, Taylor Hoggard, Brooklyn Binsfeld, and baby Berkland on the way; and many friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Helen Wallingford and Leona Hill.
