Betty J. Kirk

Betty J. Kirk, 92, of Orion, passed away Thursday July 13, 2023, at Select Specialty, Davenport.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday July 18, 2023, at Orion United Methodist Church, 407 12th Avenue, Orion.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 1301 4th Street, Orion.  The burial will be at Western Township Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Orion United Methodist Church or to the family for a fund to be established.

Betty was born on August 16, 1930, the daughter of William and Leona (Streed) Tiffenback. She married David H. Kirk on October 14, 1951, at the Orion United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2007. Betty was previously employed at John Deere where she was the secretary to the president. She later worked at Orion Tool and Die then at Larson Pump, Orion. Betty was a member of the Orion United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, painting and working on crossword puzzles. She was a talented painter and seamstress. In her younger years, Betty enjoyed golfing with her friends at Mill Creek.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah (Rodney) Mason, Orion; grandchildren, Kirk Humphreys, Grayslake, IL, Benjamin Humphreys (Sam Jursich), Oak Forrest, IL, Nick (Jenny) Mason, Coal Valley, Darcy Barnes, Sunnyvale, Texas, Shannon (Jeremy) Lenger, Coal Valley; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Peggy Metz, Cambridge; brother, Larry Tiffenback.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and son-in-law, Jim Humphreys.
