Betty Lou Peterson, 82, of Silvis, formerly of East Moline, IL, died Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Toulon, IL.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. The family will be holding private funeral services and burial will be at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association.

Betty Lou was born on January 15, 1933, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Lyster Lucius and Louise Steinhoff Brunson. She was the cheerleading captain at Davenport High School and attended the University of Iowa, where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Alumni Club.

Betty Lou married Harry Gustav Peterson on July 11, 1953, in Davenport, IA, and together they raised their family in Geneseo, IL. She worked as a federal meat inspector for the USDA at IBP. Betty Lou was a member of Kings Daughters Karen Getz Circle and the Davenport Turners Society.

Betty Lou enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling, boating, and reading. She was a fitness enthusiast who was full of life and always ready for an adventure. One of her favorite pastimes was walking the beaches and watching the sunsets in Costa Rica.
