Bonnie was born on August 26, 1929, in Moline, the daughter of Lawrence and Lena (Hunter) Smith. She attended Moline schools, graduating in 1947. After graduation she attended business school.

Bonnie joined the Moline First United Presbyterian Church in 1944. There she worshipped the Lord and learned about His wonderful gift of salvation. She worked on several committees, served as a deacon and taught Sunday School. Her service and her belief in God brought her great joy.

She worked at Deere East Moline Harvester Works for 23 years, retiring in 1984. She was active in the Toastmaster International, John Deere Club. She was voted Toastmaster of the Year and served as Associate Governor for Area 7. Afterwards, she worked for the QC Diabetes Association and volunteered at the American Cancer Society and at the Deere-Wiman House. She was also an active member of the Moline Two Rivers YMCA.

Bonnie was married to R.E. Galbraith and John Cashen. Both men preceded her in death. Left to celebrate her life is her family, whom she loved unconditionally. This includes her son, Dusten (Nancy) Galbraith, three grandsons, Robert (Elizabeth), Jeffrey (Jessi), Douglas (Taylor Hartman) and her great grandchildren, Colin, Kate, Addison, and Brian. She also leaves behind a niece, Denise (Roger) Killian and several great nieces and nephews all of whom she held dear to her heart.

Those who preceded her in death were her parents, sisters Esta Taylor and Thelma Osmeyer, a brother, Ralph Smith, nieces, Sharon Burwell and Linda Romanowski, and nephew, Charles Dhooge.

Her request is that you will all think of her kindly and have happy memories of your times together with her. She is looking forward to meeting you in heaven and enjoying the Lord forever.

Her family wishes to thank her church family and dear friends for their continued support. They would also like to thank Moline Heritage Woods Assisted Living and Silvis Illini Restorative Care. She felt loved and cared for by the staff and their support.

Memories may be shared on the tribute wall.
