Brett Carlson, 44, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly at Trinity Hospital, Bettendorf on May 15, 2025. Born on January 29, 1981, in Moline, Illinois, to Janice and Steven Carlson. Brett lived a life full of energy, laughter, and unwavering authenticity.

A proud graduate of Moline High School and Northern Illinois University, Brett built a successful career in the tech world, most recently serving as a Senior Technical Writer and SCRUM Master at BLOX Digital. He was admired by his colleagues for his keen intellect, steady leadership, and collaborative spirit. Brett brought both precision and personality to everything he did.

Brett was more than a husband, father, or friend—he was a confidant, a source of light, and someone who made every room brighter with his presence. He had a rare gift for making people feel heard and accepted without judgment and if you truly knew Brett, you know his favorite animal was the buffalo. Whether it was his contagious laugh, his love of travel, his appreciation of well-written song lyrics, his thrill seeking nature or his passion for discovering gourmet cuisine, time spent with him was always full of laughter and unforgettable moments. Life without Brett will never feel the same.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jessica Carlson; his children, Isabella Lambrecht and Owen Carlson; his parents, Janice and Steven Carlson; aunt, Merry Carole Bloeser; uncle, Don (Sheila) Yoeckel as well as many more extended family members and friends who will miss his wit, warmth, and presence beyond measure. Brett was preceded in death by his grandparents, Myron and Ann Yoeckel, and Robert and Elsie Carlson.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 23, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd., Moline. A funeral service will follow on Saturday, May 24, at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
