Bruce Frenell

Bruce M. Frenell, 54, of Colona, IL, died Thursday, July 9, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, IA.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at First Baptist Church, 1101 10th Avenue, Silvis, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, Bruce asked that memorials be made to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics or to the Q.C. Christian School.

Bruce was born on October 3, 1960, in Moline, IL, the son of Granville Peter "Pete" and JoAnne Ogle Frenell. He married Gina L. Bergeson on July 30, 1983, in Colona. He worked for Thomas Outdoor Lighting and later, beginning in January 1997, as a welder for John Deere Harvester in East Moline, retiring in 2013, due to his health.

Bruce was a member of First Baptist Church in Silvis where he was a past deacon. He was a member of East Moline UAW Local 865.

Bruce was an avid sports fan and collected sports memorabilia. He enjoyed traveling to Arizona for spring training. Bruce also enjoyed going to River Bandit baseball games, Mallard hockey games, and Chicago White Sox games. Above all, he loved coaching his children in basketball, softball, and soccer.

Bruce especially loved Sunday family get-togethers and spending time with his granddaughter, being his sunshine. Bruce also enjoyed playing golf, watching classic movies, and doing daily crossword puzzles.

Survivors include his loving wife, Gina; children, Devin Frenell, Moline, IL, Caitlin (Nathan) Boyd, Moline, IL, and Landon Frenell, Colona; granddaughter, Olivia Boyd; grandson due in December; sister, MaryAnne (Dean) Mason, Moline, IL; 3 brothers, Dennis (Judy) Frenell, Coal Valley, IL, Charles (Connie) Frenell, Barstow, IL, and Jason Frenell, East Moline, IL; parents, Pete and JoAnne Frenell, Barstow, IL.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the physicians and nurses at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island 7th floor and ICU as well as the Medical Intensive Care Unit in Iowa City.
