Carla J. Matheson, 74, of Bettendorf, IA, passed away, May 12, 2025, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at First Lutheran Church, Moline. Interment will be at Neponset West Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, Neponset Historical Society, or the Brain Research Foundation.
Carla was born on January 18, 1951, in Elgin, IL, the daughter of Carl and Sylvia (Njust) Matheson. She married William “Bill” J. Corrinne in 1987. Carla was a member of the First Lutheran Church. She attended Illinois State University. Carla sold floor coverings for Carpetland (the first woman hired from Carpetland), then Northwest Carpet One, and various other companies. She was also a part-owner of the Woodland Gallery, while at its original location in Davenport. Carla enjoyed gardening, art painting, and prints artists.
Carla grew up on a farm near Neponset, IL. She attended Neponset Community Schools for 12 years, graduating from high school in 1969. Carla was very proud of her Norwegian heritage. She was her father’s namesake and spoke often of being his right-hand girl on the farm. She helped her dad with raising the hogs, driving tractors, stacking haybales, and many other things on the farm. Carla truly had a heart of gold her entire life. She was a caring and loving woman who will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Corrinne; stepdaughters, Tina Marie Griffin (Justin) and Diane Corrinne Buck (Lynn); granddaughter, Ann Elizabeth Griffin (Thom); grandson, Connor Stephen Griffin.
She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Sylvia, and sister, Mary Naess.
