Carol I. (Strauss) Gustafson

Carol I. Gustafson, 86, of Davenport, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at ManorCare of Davenport, Iowa.

A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Visitation will be from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park in Moline.  Memorials may be made to The Sanctuary Quad Cities.

Carol was born on April 29, 1935 in La Crosse, Wisconsin the daughter of Donald A. and Kathryn I. Gibbs Strauss.  She married Ralph H. Gustafson on September 14, 1957 in East Moline; he preceded her in death on August 1, 1993.

Carol was employed as a secretary for both John Deere and the Rock Island Arsenal.  She was an active member of Riverside United Methodist Church, the former Aldersgate United Methodist Church where she volunteered as secretary, sang in the choir, was a member of the UMC Circle, and participated in the Walk to Emmaus.  Carol then joined The Sanctuary Quad Cities.

She is survived by her children, Brian Gustafson of Garland, TX, Alan and Johnna Kay Gustafson of Rock Island, Lynda Gustafson (John Lennon) of Davenport and Rhonda Waugh of Tipton, Iowa.  Grandchildren, Liza, Brittany, Valerie, Trent and Lauren.  Great grandchildren, Julianna, Londen and Kathrine.  A brother, Gordon Strauss of North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
