Carolyn L. Sproul, 84, of East Moline, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, October 8, 2018, at First Covenant Church, 3303 41st Street, Moline. The Rev. Randall Surey will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:30–7 p.m., Sunday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. All need to use 60th Street for access to the funeral home.
Carolyn was born June 21st, 1934, in Moline Illinois, to Camiel P. and Agnes J. (Young) Remery. She married Herman E. Nelson on November 4, 1954 in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death. On July 3, 1980, Carolyn married Robert C. Sproul at the First Covenant Church, Moline.
Carolyn graduated from Moline High School in 1952. She worked at Markman Peat Company, Black Hawk College and Deere and Company. She worked for 17 years at Deere in the Medical Department and Personnel. Carolyn was active in PTA, church activities, 20th Century Club and was a 50-year plus member of the Kings/Daughters and Sons. She loved playing bridge, working in the garden and was an avid Cubs fan.
She is survived by her husband Robert; daughter, Carolyn (Stuart) Rodger, Sydney, Australia; sons, Jeffrey (Susan) Nelson, Elmhurst Illinois; K. Scott (Barb) Nelson, Monmouth, Illinois and Todd Nelson, Palm Springs, California; step-children, Jeffrey (Rita) Sproul, Kankakee, Illinois; Sara (James) Claus, Port Byron, Illinois and Kathryn (George) Rainey, Hobart, Indiana. Seventeen grandchildren, Elinor (Steven) Butler, United Kingdom; Laurence (Stephanie) Rodger, United Kingdom; Adam (Kristin) Nelson; Erica Ciganek; Joshua Nelson; Christopher (Kathy) Nelson; Brandi Nelson; Kevin and Cate Claus; Amy (Caleb) Arnold; Aaron Ruthey; Zak Rainey; Wesley (Amber) Sproul; Dalton and Olivia Sproul; Chrissey (Brad) Stuart; Tim (Beth) DeVoss; seven great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Delores Lundquist and brother, Robert Remery.
The family wishes to thank the physicians and staff at University of Iowa and Clarissa Cook hospice for their wonderful care.
