Carroll M. Furst, 84, of Illinois City, passed away May 12, 2024, at UnityPoint Health Trinity, Rock Island.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday July 20, 2024, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. The visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at the Illinois City Cemetery, at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the Illinois City/Buffalo Prairie Volunteer Fire Department or to his family for a fund to be established.

Carroll was born on May 3, 1940, in Illinois City, Illinois, the son of Milton and Mary (Ziegenhorn) Furst. He married Melva Louann Holmgren Minard on October 31, 1965, in Peoria. Carroll served in the National Guard for six years and was a former Mason. He had previously been employed as a deputy sheriff for the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Department from 1962-1990. He later worked with the U.S. Marshall Service from 1990-2011. After his final retirement, Carroll enjoyed fishing with his family at Apple Canyon Lake.

Survivors include his wife, Louann; children, Bill (Cindy) Minard, Kirk (Tami) Minard, Scott (Michelle) Minard; grandchildren, Emily (Scott) Spencer, Adam (Melissa) Minard, Shanna (Harold) Canfield, Stephanie Eads, Jae (Brittany) Eads, Tasha Canfield, Shawn (Lindsay) Minard, Colin Minard, Conner Minard; great grandchildren, Chloe and Brooke Spencer, Gibson and Hendrix Minard, Reyna and Braeden Einfeldt, Joshua, Adrian, Sophia, Lilianna, Mila, Brice, Josh and Lilly Minard; sister, Deloris Pape; sister-in-law, Mitzi Furst; brother-in-law, Bill Holmgren; nieces, Kim VanKirk (Tom), Debbie (Bob) Beatty, Denise Pape, Deanna (Andy) Lee; great nephews, Dillon (Erin) DeKeyrel, Dakota (Megan) DeKeyrel, and Sawyer and Daxton VanKirk; great nieces, Serena and Hannah Lee; great great nephews, Wyatt and Weston DeKeyrel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary; brother-in-law, Cork Pape; sister-in-law, Ann Holmgren; nephew, Steve Holmgren.
