Charles E. Warner, 84, of Coal Valley, IL, died Sunday, February 2, 2014, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Military rites will be conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church or to Cambridge Lodge #49.

Charlie was born on December 14, 1929, in Ellendale, MN, the son of Ralph and Lucy (Seeley) Warner. He married Norma Jean Lovelace on December 15, 1951, in Rock Island.

Charlie graduated from high school in Tacoma, Washington in 1949. He went on to join the United States Navy serving during the Korean Conflict. Charlie worked in the Transportation Department at Alcoa for 39 ½ years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church in Moline. He enjoyed camping, golf, raising roses, and his trips taking crippled children to the Shriner's Hospital in Chicago.

Charlie was very involved in Cub Scouts serving as Scout Master in both Moline and Coal Valley. He was a member of Cambridge Lodge #49 and the former Valley Lodge #547 serving as Past Master and over 25 years as secretary; he was also a member of the York Rite and Davenport High Twelve. Charlie was also involved with the Order of the Eastern Star #274 where he served as Past Patron and as Chapter Dad of DeMolay in Moline. Charlie was a member of Kaaba Shrine, Consistory Valley of Moline and was a member of director's staff of Kaaba Shrine; he was also a member of Zal Grotto. Charlie was past president of Alcoa Retirees and member of the East Moline American Legion Post #227 where he served as Adjutant.

A host of nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Carrie, Florence, Lesley, Melvin, Glenn, Donald, Bobby and an infant sister, Blanche.
