Charlotte Schaab

Charlotte L. Schaab, 87, of Geneseo, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2015, with Rev. Sandy Bunnell officiating at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to Colona United Methodist Church.

Charlotte was born on February 14, 1928, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Bert and Fama Snook Brown. She married William J. Schaab on February 14, 1951, at the Church of Peace in Rock Island. William preceded her in death on September 27, 1993. She was a member of Colona United Methodist Church on Cleveland Road in Colona, IL. During high school she worked at the Highland Theater in Moline. Upon graduation from Moline High School she went to work for John Deere in the drafting department. She later worked for Dr. Zimmer and then Moline Psychiatric. After retirement she worked in the office of the Colona United Methodist Church for several years, also helping to put on the church bazaars, luncheons, and cookie walks.

She was an excellent wife and mother as well as doing beautiful count cross stitch needlework, tole painting and ceramics. She loved quilting and was a member of the quilting circle at the church. She had bowled on leagues at the old Town and Country Lanes in Rock Island. She was a great cook and everyone raved about the many varieties of Christmas cookies she made for friends, neighbors and the church cookie walks. Charlotte loved sitting in her flower garden talking with her best friend (Husband). She had traveled through most of the United States and Canada with her family and cruised to the Bahamas and Hawaii.

Survivors include her son, Jay, Geneseo; brothers, Roy (Rexine) Brown, Aledo, Bert A. (Ella) Brown, Rock Island, Bill Brown, Milan; sister-in-law, Marilyn Schaab, East Moline; Central Bank Travel Club buddy, Elsie Little; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters, Phyllis and Adeline.
