Chester "Chet" R. Wexell, 95, of Orion, IL, died Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Aledo Rehabilitation and Health Care, Aledo, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1301 4th Street, Orion. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. Memorials may be made to his family.
Chet was born on October 15, 1919, in Cambridge, IL, the son of Leonard and Hanna Elrene Anderson Wexell. He married Joan Driessens Rambo on March 22, 1997, in Orion. He worked as a farmer, retiring in 1984.
Chet proudly served the United States Army as a Paratrooper from 1940-1945 during WWII. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Orion, the Ophiem American Legion, and the Orion V.F.W. He enjoyed bowling and dancing.
