Clifford R. Bates

Clifford R. Bates, 90, of Moline, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at River Crossing, Moline.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd, Moline.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.  Memorials may be made to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Clifford was born on September 28, 1931, in Garden Grove, IA, the son of George G and Mary A (Dorsey) Bates. Clifford entered the United States Army and served from 1952 to 1954. During his service he was stationed in Korea. Clifford married Janice Hauger on June 4, 1960, in Davenport, IA. He was employed as a meter reader for Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric Co., retiring in 1992. He was a former member of the Moline Gospel Temple. Clifford enjoyed studying genealogy and astronomy.

Survivors include his wife, daughter, Alice Blankenfeld, Moline; sons, George (Linda) Bates, Rock Island, Curtis Bates, Moline, Scott Bates, Moline; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and sister, Georgia Felder, Prairie City, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
