Connie S. Landuyt

Melvin L. Landuyt, 74, of Lynn Center, IL, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013, in Orion, IL. His wife, Connie S. Landuyt, 73, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL.

Funeral Services for the couple will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Visitation for Melvin and Connie will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2013, at the funeral home where casual attire will be welcomed. They will be buried together at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to their family for a fund to be established.

Melvin was born on January 27, 1938, in Moline, IL, the son of Fred and Vera (Anderson) Landuyt. He worked for Johnson Sheet Metal and later developed Valley Company Heating & Air in Osco, IL.

Connie was born on August 18, 1939, in Sterling, IL, the daughter of Warren and Helen (Brown) Knox. She began working as a hairdresser. Later, she and Melvin owned and operated Ceramics Unlimited in Woodhull. She then worked at JoAnn Fabrics in Galesburg.

Melvin and Connie married on June 14, 1958, in East Moline, IL.

He enjoyed watching football, basketball, and NASCAR, while she liked to spend time quilting, sewing, and shopping. Together they were members of the Geneseo Moose Club and enjoyed golfing, Rolle Bolle, and spending an evening out at the casino.

They were preceded in death by their parents and son in law, Dick Stiles.
