Curtis Wayne Shaffer, 76, of Milan, IL, died Sunday, January 3, 2016, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Bettendorf, Bettendorf, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Estate. Memorials may be made to World Mission Alliance.
Curtis was born on April 5, 1939, in Grafton, WV, the son of Chester and Marion Wentz Shaffer. He married Katherine Zoe Dodge on September 8, 1959, in Oakland, MD.
Curtis graduated in 1961 from Grantham School of Electronics with a degree in Communication Electronics. He worked as a master control worker for Channel 8. He later worked for Media Group Television at Moline Gospel Temple, where he was a member. There, he was a class leader and enjoyed his singing group.
Curtis enjoyed taking world missions traveling to China, Cuba, Russia, Egypt, Africa, Germany, Ireland, and many other places.
Survivors include his children, Chester (Deanna) Shaffer, Davenport, IA, Scott (Tracy) Shaffer, Rock Island, IL, Steve (Melanie) Shaffer, Fulton, IL, Sharon (Jim) Rizzo, Castaic, CA; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Katherine.
