Cynthia M. Townley, 61, of Moline, died on October 4, 2014 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
She was born on May 6, 1953 in Moline, Illinois to John E. and Donna Smet Irwin. She married Gregory S. Townley on September 9, 1972 in Moline. He preceded her in death on November 18, 2004.
Also surviving are her daughters, Angie (Tom) Gross of Peoria, Kim Edwards of Moline, and Laura (Chad) Hoover of Milan; her mother, Donna Irwin; five grandchildren, Kaleigh and Kelsey Gross, Stormy Edwards, Levi and Blakely Hoover; four siblings, Marcia Uchtorff, Steve Irwin, John Irwin, Katy (Harry) Nichols, and her mother-in-law, Wilma Townley.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Thomas Gregory Townley; father, John Irwin, and father-in-law Wagner Townley.
Cindy was employed with the Sheet Metal Workers Union 91 in Milan as the Director of Health and Welfare retiring in 2011. She coached softball for the Milan Area Girls Softball Association for several years and enjoyed spending time at the ballpark. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going with friends to the movies. She enjoyed the company of others and was a member of the "Dice Group" and the "Lunch Bunch;" above all she valued her time with her grandchildren and family.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601 38 Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.
