Dale Alan Adams

July 28, 1963 — June 18, 2025

Rock Island

Dale Alan Adams, 61, of Rock Island, IL, passed away June 18, 2025, at UnityPoint Health Trinity Rock Island, from complications due to cerebral palsy.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and per the family’s wishes there are no services to be held. Inurnment will be at Rock Island Memorial Park at a later date. Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Moline, are assisting the family with arrangements.

Dale was born July 28, 1963, in Moline, IL, the son of Francis and Beverly J (Delles) Adams. Dale was born healthy but suffered medical complications at 6 days old that would affect his physical being the rest of his life, but nothing could dampen his strong spirit. Dale lived in group homes for most of his life, worked outside the home until it was time to retire to his “office”, and enjoyed his social outings (unless it was too cold out then he’d hang out and watch game shows) where he met up with old acquaintances and made new friends. Dale was also known for his style: he liked his cardigans, hats, and accessories (he had a wide variety) so his social outings were his opportunities to dress the part.

Dale was a social butterfly and never met a stranger. If you were lucky enough to meet Dale, you were the recipient of his “hand kisses’, his huge smile, and his infectious laugh. Dale liked stickers, big trucks, motorcycles, the Chicago Bears and Cubs (his dad’s influence), cheeseburgers with ketchup and pickles, chocolate shakes, movies, Pepsi, and reading “Sports Illustrated”. Dale liked to go shopping and buy stickers or treats (usually candy), peruse the car lots looking at trucks, and check out staff’s trucks and motorcycles. Dale made an impression on you: for all his physical limitations, he was truly happy, loving, silly, bright, caring, and will be remembered. Dale had a true love of life and pulled you in for the ride!

Dale is survived and lovingly remembered by his sisters, Deb Menken and Norine Daw; brothers, Craig, Steve, and Mike Adams; stepsisters, Sandy and Arlene; stepbrother, Bob. Dale was preceded in death by his parents and stepbrother, Ron.

Special thanks go out to Dale’s house families at the Arc of the Quad Cities especially Heritage 53 and Rick House. Dale was loved, cared for, and looked after all his life but above all, respected thanks to the dedication of his caregivers and staff. Please consider making a donation in Dale’s name to the Arc of the QC. A Celebration of Life will be held at Rick House in late July around Dale’s birthday.
