Dale K. Mundt

Captain Dale Keith Mundt, 84, of Silvis, IL, died July 7, 2017, surrounded by his family at Hope Creek Care Center, in East Moline, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory Ltd., 6601-38th Ave, Moline. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2017. Per Dale’s wishes, cremation rites will follow services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MGT New Hope Church.

Dale was born on October 5, 1932, in Moline, the son of Everette and Georgia (McFarland) Mundt. He married Judy K. Truby-Powell on August 10, 1979. He was last employed by the CSO of US Marshall Federal Courts. He retired in 1991 as Undersheriff of the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Department.

Dale was a member of the MGT New Hope Church, Fraternal Order of Police serving as 2nd VP in the state of Illinois, Master Mason Lodge 1014, past member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church in Avon Park, FL.  He enjoyed golfing, music, sharing his wonderful sense of humor and most of all, time spent with his family.

Survivors include his wife Judy; sons, Dennis (Tia) Mundt, Davenport, IA, Daniel (Cindy) Mundt, Bettendorf, IA; daughter Debbie (Travis) Yungen, Coal Valley, IL; step-daughter Kym (Shawn) Jones, Coal Valley, IL; grandchildren. Keith, Kevin, Lyndsey, Jennifer, Josh, Rebecca, Katelyn, Kimber, Hunter, and Hannah; 7 great grandchildren; and siblings, Vivian Severs, Rock Island, IL, Ronald (Carolyn) Mundt, Moline, IL, Lewis (Judy) Mundt, FL, Kathy (Darrell) Mundt, Moline, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Myrtle and granddaughter, Stephanie Yungen.
