Daniel Ray Black, 67, of Moline, IL, passed away, July 27, 2026, at UnityPoint Health Trinity, Rock Island.
A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Moline. Inurnment will follow at the National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal where military honors will be conducted. Memorials may be made to the family.
Daniel was born on November 1, 1958, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Daniel Preston and Opal (Anderson) Black. He married Valerie Ann Brown.
He was a member of the Rock Island VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars). In his younger years, he was an Army Veteran retiring as a Sergeant from Desert Storm with the rank of E-5 SGT(P). Daniel worked as a saw operator and as a steel worker at Moline Forge Inc. He loved all of the Chicago teams, the Bears, Bulls, Cubs and the Blackhawks.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie Black; children, Rachel Nadine Sue Black and Adam Nathaniel (Sarah) Black; grandchildren, Alexia Dietz (Martin Resendiz), grandpup, Emma Dietz (Noah Ochoa), Samuel and Jacob Black; great grandchild to be, Sawyer; daughter, Jennifer Lynn Black; grandchildren, James Black, Devontae, Dayvon and Jaylynn Jones of New York; great granddaughter, Isabelle Black; grandchild, Briana Black of Florida and great grandchildren, Emery, Camden, and Alora.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Opal Black, his sisters, Deanna Miller, Mary Hobbs and Sharon Webster and son, Daniel Joseph Black.
