Darryl was born on September 10, 1954, in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Edward W. and Mabel Adalene Fewell Elliott. Darryl attended Pleasant Valley High School and was a proud Quad City native. The day after graduation Darryl enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he proudly served his country. While in the service, Darryl married the love of his life Deborah Lynn Burton on May 25, 1973. Professionally, Darryl spent the majority of his career working at Alcoa as a production supervisor. More recently he enjoyed working part time as an automotive repair technician. This freed up time for him to spend more time doing the things he loved.
Darryl’s interests included attending Coram Deo Bible Church, golf, bowling, movies, working out, bicycling, racquetball, and long motorcycle rides. While he was always very active, his real passion was spending time with family and serving others. Darryl was a very active grandpa. He never missed a game, event, or milestone in their lives. He was always present and proud of their accomplishments. Darryl demonstrated his love for others thru acts of service. He was known to many as Uncle Darryl and was a regular “mister fix it” and jack of all trades. Whether you needed your car repaired, landscaping project completed, or random home repair he was available at a moment’s notice. He was simply always there for so many people.
Darryl was a magnet for attention and always the first to crack a joke or engage in a conversation. Above all, he will forever be remembered for the genuine love and support that he provided in so many ways to his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Darryl is survived by his wife, Debbie; daughters, Dionne (Robert) Bergeson and Deandra (Brad) Russmann; grandchildren, Conrad (Cynthia) Richardson, Brody and Malaki Bergeson, Isabel, Morgan, Gabriel and Eden Russmann; great grandchild, Penelope Richardson; sisters, Sharon (Jeff) Hanson, Lynn (Guy) Jones; brother, Edward W. Elliott Jr.
Darryl was preceded in death by his parents, Edward “Bill” and Mabel Elliott and two infant sisters.
