David J. Hawkes, 58, of Hampton, died May 6, 2008 at Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf, IA.
Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2008 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal with military honors conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to Countryside Christian Church for the purchase of CPR training material.
David was born November 10, 1949 in Jeffersonville, IN to Donald and Hazel (Thompson) Hawkes. He married Diana Cuoco in 1969 and later married Rita Bilderback on November 19, 1972 in Moline.
David was an Army veteran serving two tours in Vietnam from Nov. 21, 1967~Nov. 20, 1970. He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans, life member of VFW Post #2056 and a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 299. He was a Past Patron of the Rose Chapter 626. He enjoyed fishing, camping, CB-Radios and spending time with his grandchildren.
