David M. Rossi

David M. Rossi, 85, of Orion, IL, passed away, October 26, 2023, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA, surrounded by his loving family.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday October 31, 2023, Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 1301 4th Street, Orion. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at the Western Township Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the family for a donation or memorial of their choice.

Dave was born on July 4, 1938, in Moline, IL, the son of Pat and Ruth (Humphrey) Rossi. Dave was a U.S. Veteran, having served in both the Navy and the Marines as a Medic from 1956-1960. He married Donna J. Sonnenburg in Orion on April 15, 1962.

Dave worked in sales at Bawden Printing (VonHoffman) in Eldridge, Iowa for nearly 40 years. After retirement, he worked at the Greater Q.C. Auto Auction until 2023. He would wait for the morning call to join his buddies to work for the day. Dave loved family fishing trips with the boys, camping at the Giant Goose Conservation Area Club, visiting Branson, MO, and cheering on his kids and grandkids during numerous sporting events. His favorite part of the day was deciding what the next meal would entail. He was always the last one to finish eating as he savored every bite. Fried chicken from Frank’s Pizza or a Whitey’s pineapple shake ranked at the top of his favorites. Dave’s true love was his family and strong belief in being together. His contagious smile, sense of humor, yodeling at family reunions, and being the best participant in the Chicken Dance will be remembered forever.

Survivors include his wife, Donna J. Rossi; children, Lori (Randy) Brown, Orion, Rocky (Jim) Schrader, Lanark, IL, Mike (Paula) Rossi, Ladd, IL, Tony (Nellie) Rossi, Seatonville, IL; grandchildren, Lindsey (Chuck) Milem, Jessica (Brandon) Oelmann, Spencer (Amanda) Brown, Chelsea (Trenton) Diehl, Gabe (Makenzie) Schrader, Veda Rossi, Jett (fiancé, Jessica) Rossi, Haven Rossi, Nolan Miller, Cullen Lensing, and Chipper Jo Rossi; eleven great-grandchildren; siblings, Diane (Lamont) Peterson, Henderson, NV, and Dick (Nancy) Rossi, Orion; and sisters-in-law, Georgia (Randy) Baldridge, Hampton, and Judy Muhleman, Moline.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ruth (Humphrey) and Pat Rossi; in laws, George and Mid Sonnenburg, and brother-in-law, Marv Muhleman.
