David L. Tanner, 74, of Moline, IL, died Sunday, July 19, 2015, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL, after a brief illness.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Moline Memorial Park where military honors will be conducted by the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 299. Following the service, a casual gathering to celebrate David's life will be held from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Viking Club of Moline, 1450 41st Street. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Moline High School Class of '59 Scholarship Fund.
David was born on May 13, 1941, in Moline, IL, the son of Roy Elmer and Helen Marie Swanson Tanner. He married Jacquelyn "Jackie" Olson on June 12, 1965, in Rockford, IL. He was the owner of Tanner Manufacturing Corporation, for over 30 years. Later, he worked for Production Cutting Services for 10 years, retiring in 2008.
David was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Air Force from January 1960 through November of 1963. He was active at the YMCA, liked to read, and play golf. David greatly enjoyed his fellowship with his classmates from MHS Class of '59. He was also a member of Quad Cities Computer Society and the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 299.
Survivors include his loving wife, Jackie; daughters, Alison (Steve) Migala, Streamwood, IL, and Amy (Chris) Kamin, Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Brandon Migala, Ryan Migala, Michael Kamin, and Sarah Kamin; nieces, Debbie (Scott) McPherson, Moline, IL, Pam (Bob Lee) Westerdale, Milan, IL, Dan (Karen) Westerdale, England, Julie (Kevin) Brock, Rockford, IL, and Jeff Olson, FL; brother-in-law, Dennis Olson, Rockford, IL; aunt, Alice Anderson, Rockford, IL; and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sally Westerdale.
