Dean E. Ash, 87, Moline, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the Hope Creek Care Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at St. Gabriel Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Orion. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Rosary will be at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Military honors to be accorded. Cremation rites have been accorded. Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Orion is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Dean was born on October 21, 1938, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Lawrence and Margaret (Smessaert) Ash. He married Mary Ann Fulscher in Hampton, IL, on July 7, 1962. Dean worked as an assembly planning analyst for Farmall and later for Caterpillar Inc in assembly planning, before retiring in 1989. Dean was a veteran having served in the US Army. He was a member at Christ the King Catholic Church and a former member of Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Dean was a member of Toastmasters, Men’s Club, and taught 6th grade CCD. He also coached baseball and little league football. Dean took part in cub scouts and was a Den Leader. He loved to travel, and also go hunting, fishing, and golfing.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Ash; children, Christine (Troy) Olivier, Michael (Wendy) Ash, Edward (Laura McCormick) Ash; daughter-in-law, Dana Ash; grandchildren. David (Megan) Oliver, Nicholas Ash, Brandon Ash, Monica Ash, and Samantha Ash; great-grandson, Callum Olivier; twin brother, Dennis (Joanne) Ash; sister, Teresa Ash.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Daniel Ash.
