Dean Ashley Johnson, 83, of Moline, formerly of Sherrard, IL, died Monday, June 23, 2014, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Swedona Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1301 4th Street, Orion. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to Swedona Lutheran Church.
Dean was born on July 26, 1930, in Harmon, IL, the son of Melvin and Dessil Young Johnson. He graduated from Alpha High School in 1948. He married Judy Rhodenbaugh on December 6, 1958, at Salem Lutheran Church in Moline.
Dean worked as a plumber for the City of Rock Island Water Department, retiring in April of 1993. He was a member of Swedona Lutheran Church, Swedish Vikings Club, the Lion's Club of Sherrard, and a 27 year member of SPEBSQSA. Dean also sang for the Bend of the River Chorus in Rock Island and for 11 years in the Leisure World Barber Shop Chorus in Mesa, AZ.
