Delores Lorraine Spengler

Delores Lorraine Spengler, 95, of Rock Island, formerly of Sherrard, IL, died Wednesday, November 12, 2015, at Silver Cross Health and Rehab, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 16, 2015, at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1301 4th Street, Orion. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, November 15, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will be at German Cemetery in Sherrard. Memorials may be made to the Sherrard Community Presbyterian Church or to the Sherrard Volunteer Fire Dept.
Lorraine was born on November 14, 1919, at home in Rural Township, the daughter of Ora and Ida Thor Jinks. She married Virgil Spengler on August 31, 1940, in Davenport, IA, and he preceded her in death on July 20, 2003.
Lorraine was a charter member of Community Presbyterian Church in Sherrard. She taught Sunday school and was a member of the UPWO, holding several offices. She was also a member of the Sherrard Women's Club for over 55 years, holding many offices.
Lorraine was a homemaker and enjoyed working on the farm with Virgil. She loved being with family and attending her children's and grandchildren's events.
Survivors include her 4 children, Larry (Cheryl) Spengler, Sherrard, IL, John (Joyce) Spengler, Boynton Beach, FL, Thomas (Janet) Spengler, Sherrard, IL, and Janette (Gary) Dochterman, Sherrard, IL; 8 grandchildren, Darren (Debbie) Spengler, Brannon (Hilary) Spengler, Dana (Denny) Johnston, Anjanette (Marc) Swingle, Kristine (Jim) Lingafelter, Jacquelyn Spengler, Kari (Brad) Roberts, and Lance Dochterman; 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil; 2 brothers, Raymond and Jack.
