Desyl Thornbloom, 93, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Shelby Crossing Health Campus in Michigan where she lived since 2012.
Desyl was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and the Scandinavian Club of Columbus. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and was a great baker for her family and friends. In retirement with her husband, Glenn, they founded Desyl’s Scandi Gifts which they enjoyed for many years.
Desyl was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Thornbloom; parents, Frank and Anna Nelson; brothers, Sigurd Nelson and Glen Nelson; and sisters Gladys Bell and Roselyn Blomberg. She is survived by her daughter, Glendene Thornbloom, Windsor, Ontario, Canada; son, Dennis Thornbloom, Clifton, New Jersey; grandchildren, Kevin Heino, Erik (Beth) Heino from Windsor, Brian Heino (Becky Caldwell) from Columbus, and Sherstin Heino from Saskatchewan, Canada; great-grandchildren, Lily, James, Jake and Daniel from Windsor and Amara from Saskatchewan.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
