Dickson "Dick" Putney

Dickson "Dick" Putney, 74, of Lynn Center, IL, died Saturday, December 12, 2015, at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 17, 2015, at Orion United Methodist Church,
407 - 12th Avenue, Orion. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. A private family inurnment will take place at a later time. Memorials may be made to University of Iowa, Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center Research.
Dick was born on July 30, 1941, in Michigan, the son of Dewey and Mildred Drier Putney. He married Mary Jo Little on May 26, 1962, in Elberta, Michigan.
Dick was an Airline Agent for Ozark Airlines and TWA for 39 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of Orion United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee, a youth group leader, and a council member. He also was a member of the Orion Sportmans Club. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, and gardening. Dick coached Little League baseball and girls' softball for many years. He especially loved following his grandchildren's many sporting events - both high school and college. He was a diehard Cubs fan. He took great joy in helping others.
