Donald Hartkop, 81, of Moline, IL, died Thursday, July 23, 2015, at home.
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services. Inurnment will be at Rock Island Memorial Park. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Donald was born on September 7, 1933, in Moline, IL, the son of Herbert Joseph and Florence D. Campbell Hartkop. He married Mary Jane Scheuermann on May 26, 1962, in Rock Island, IL. He worked as an equipment specialist for the Rock Island Arsenal for 31 years, retiring in December of 1988.
Donald was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He was a 32nd degree mason and a Tebala Shriner. He was a member of the Moline American Legion Post 246.
Survivors include his children, Herbert D. (Tina) Black, Rock Island, IL, Candace L. (David W.) Daker, Lombard, IL, and James R. (Stacy L.) Hartkop, Beverly Hills, FL; 6 grandchildren, Luke (Amanda) Black, Milan, IL, Adhamh (Karla) Black, Wyoming, MI, Cody Black, Elmhurst, IL, Jennelle Black, Dekalb, IL, Gabrielle Hartkop, Beverly Hills, FL, Isabella Hartkop, Beverly Hills, FL; 1 great grandson, Gavin Black.
He was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife, Mary Jane.
