Donna June Carlson

Donna June Carlson, 87, of Colona, passed away, June 12, 2025, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday June 23, 2025, at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday June 22, 2025. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Rose Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.

Donna was born on March 16, 1938, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Charles Arthur and Mabel Virginia (Brown) Catterton. She married Wayne Leroy Carlson on October 20, 1957, in Tampico; he preceded her in death on February 10, 2001. In her younger years, Donna worked at Villa Park Café, where she met her future husband. She later retired from Deere & Co. after working as a secretary for 22 years.

Some of her hobbies were doing crafts, watching Hallmark movies and mysteries, playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, puzzles and puzzle books, and fishing. She was also a Cubs fan and loved watching their baseball games. Donna was a den mother for the Cub Scouts and a Girl Scout troop leader. She was also a member of the PTA, taught Sunday school, and was a kindergarten teacher’s aide.

Survivors include her children, Jeanne (Joe) Laird, Chuck (Marina) Carlson, and Jan Ponce; grandchildren, Jeffrey “JJ” Ponce Jr., Angela (Jonathan) Chase, Nicholas (Page) Laird, Charles Carlson, Jacob Laird, Justin (Amy) Sondgeroth, and Miranda Carlson; great-grandchildren, Audrey Ponce, Noah Carlson, Brynley Ponce, Jason Carlson, Levi Ponce, Liam Carlson, and Ellie Chase.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Bonnie Martin and Norma Robinson, and brother Charles “Hap” Catterton.

The family would like to thank the staff at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House for their great care.
