Donna R. Derby, 81, of Colona, IL, died Thursday, August 6, 2015, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.
A private graveside service will be held at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal, where military honors will be conducted by Moline American Legion Post 246. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Donna was born on July 6, 1934, in Keota, IA, the daughter of Otis W. and Margaret L. Dayton Black. She married Richard I. Derby on November 2, 1957, in Nashua, IA.
Donna was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Army. She was a member of the American Legion Post 1233 and very active in her children and grandchildren's lives. She enjoyed playing Bingo and going to the Riverboats.
She will be missed everyday.
Survivors include her children, Sylvia J. Garrett, Colona, IL, Lela (Tom) Brown, Harlan, IA, and Tamra (Scott) Russell, Moline, IL, David Derby, Colona, IL, Margaret (John) Hogan, Normal, IL; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard.
