Doris Jane Carlson, 87, of Moline, died on May 10, 2014 at UnityPoint Trinity Rock Island.
A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38 Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to the King's Daughters Thrift Shop or First Congregational Church, Moline.
Doris was born on February 1, 1927 in Moline, the daughter of John and Hassie Hankla Johnson. She graduated from Moline High School in 1945. She married Ronald Carlson on December 26, 1948 in Moline.
Doris was homemaker; a member of the First Congregational Church in Moline, a member of the Silver Chalice Circle of King's Daughters and Sons and volunteered at the King's Daughters Thrift Shop. Doris enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending winters in Florida and Gulf Shores, Alabama. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and collecting figurines of pigs. More than anything, Doris loved spending time with her family.
