Doris Elizabeth Starkey

Doris Elizabeth Starkey, 89, of Moline, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Silver Cross Health and Rehab Center, Rock Island.

Private family services with military honors will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery at a later date. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family.

Doris was born on January 1, 1933, in Moline, the daughter of Robert and Mildred (Quade) Falk. She held the honor of being the First New Year’s Baby of 1933. After high school, Doris served in the Air Force/Corps. She married Dick E. Starkey on October 6, 1962, in Peoria. He preceded her in death on December 31, 2009. Doris retired from Deere and Company Tech Center where she worked as a librarian. She loved gardening, knitting and her cats.  She was also an avid White Sox and NASCAR fan – Go Kurt Busch!

Survivors include her special great nieces, Andrea Jones and Amie Mills, along with many other loving nieces and nephews; great-great nephew, Logan Jones; and brother, Robert Falk.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Louise Dunlop; and brother, James Falk.
