Dorothy May Johnston, 82, of Moline, died December 7, 2008, at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf, IA.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 10, 2008 from 3-6 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2008 at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Anyone wishing to attend the graveside service needs to meet at the funeral home by 12:45 p.m. Memorials may be made to a local animal shelter of choice.
Dorothy was born July 2, 1926 in Prophetstown, IL to Carl and Henrietta (Kamphuis) Arndt. She graduated from Prophetstown High School. She attended Rockford Business College and later graduated from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed at the former Moline Lutheran Hospital as a surgical nurse. She married Gene E. Johnston on June 11, 1948 in Moline. He preceded her in death on January 5, 2003.
Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church of Moline for over 60 years. She was a member of Trinity Nurses Association, Home Extension thru University of Illinois and the Q.C. Doll Club.
