Dorothy Moross, 88, of Moline, IL, formerly of Coal Valley, IL, died Friday, September 13, 2013, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 210 East 22nd Avenue, Coal Valley, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Monday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, with a Liturgy service at 3:30. Burial will be at Coal Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Treehouse Humane Society in Chicago, IL.
Dorothy was born on November 24, 1924 in Lincoln, IL, the daughter of August and Ida (Gaddis) Trommer. She married Edgar Franklin Moross in February of 1951, in Lincoln, IL, and he preceded her in death in 1977.
Dorothy worked as a house cleaner for Johnson Contracting and was a member of Saint Maria Goretti Catholic Church. She was very active in church; going on youth group retreats and spending hundreds of hours working in the kitchen preparing and serving food. Dorothy loved cats very much and throughout the years she had several, although, always held a special place for her beloved, Clariee. Gardening was a favorite of Dorothy's; she had planted hundreds of onions and loved to can pickles. Often Dorothy would go camping with her "Honorary Sister" Barb Herbert's family. She very much enjoyed the time they all spent together.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and eight other siblings, Leona, Carl, Bertha, Augie, Harold, Art, Sue, and an infant girl.
