Dorothy E. Shutt, 85, of East Moline, IL, died Monday, September 23, 2013, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2013, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Dorothy was born on April 30, 1928, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Dorothy and Sidon Willaert. She attended Sacred Heart school in Moline, IL. She married Dick E. Shutt on July 16, 1949, in Davenport, IA, and he preceded her in death on March 17, 2011.
Mrs. Shutt worked at Eagle Signal, Don Wright Photography and Hunters Camera Store before she started working at Royal Neighbors of America where she retired in 1990.
Dorothy was an avid golfer, loved kids and pets and enjoyed spending her winters in Florida. Mostly she loved being with her grandsons and giving them "anything their little hearts desired". She never missed any of her grandsons sporting events and always came with a tin of chocolate chip cookies for the team. She became known as the cookie grandma. She lived a great life and will be surely missed by her friends & family.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Diane (Rick) Price; son, Steve (Vickey) Shutt; grandsons, Collin (Heidi) Shutt and Colten Shutt; brother, George (Cheryl) Potter; niece, Heidi Potter; nephews, Jason Potter and Michael (Tina) Shutt; and sister-in-law, Donna Shutt.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
