Duane Thomas Morgan, 84, of Coal Valley, formerly of Orion, IL, died Thursday, October 30, 2014, at home.
A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Beulah Presbyterian Church 9221 148 Avenue, Orion. Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. 1301 4th Street, Orion. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church.
Duane was born on October 29, 1930, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Thomas and Lillian Morgan. He married Betty Jane VanSickle on April 16, 1950 at the Orion United Methodist Church.
Duane was a lifelong farmer during which time he was a member of the Illinois Health Improvement Association where he served as the District 9 Director, he was a 4H Leader, member of the Pure Bred Angus Association and was a member of the Henry County Beef Producers. Duane also was a crop adjuster for Country Companies. He was a member of the Orion School Board where he served as Secretary and Chairman and was the President of the Alumni Class of 1947-1948. Duane was a member of the Moline Masonic Lodge 1014 A.F. & A.M. Duane was a very active member of the Beulah Presbyterian Church where he served many times as an elder. Above all, Duane had a true love of God and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
