Duane W. Schultz

Duane W. Schultz, 86, of Moline, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at UnityPoint Health Trinity Rock Island.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Monday, January 16, at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Rose Lawn Cemetery.

Duane was born on January 16, 1936, in Moline, the son of Ernest and Alice (Young) Schultz. He married Joann J. Steene on July 25, 1964, in Moline. He was previously employed as an installer for Illinois Bell, retiring after 31 years and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He owned and operated a payphone company, a laundromat, and Schultzie’s Place in Moline. He enjoyed all scales of model trains and liked to watch western and war movies.

Survivors include his wife, Joann; sons, Steve Schultz, Darren Schultz; sister, Lou Ann (Richard) Derammelaere.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Louie.
